Nollamara enter C2 after making it back to back premierships over the past two seasons with a win in C4 (2015) and C3 (2016). It has been a fast move up the grades for Nollamara led again by head coach Martin Smith.
Former Fremantle Dockers player Steven Dodd has taken up the coaching role at Lynwood Ferndale. Dodd played all his junior football for Lynwood Ferndale before he was drafted to East Fremantle. Dodd was drafted to the Dockers in 2003 and played 101 games over seven seasons as a defender. Lynwood Ferndale have had a tough few years failing to make the finals since their premiership in 2012.
Canning South Perth have appointed Troy Steven as coach for 2017. Troy played for Vic Park/South Perth Raiders from 1998-2000 before their merge with Canning and has most recently played at Mt Lawley where he was a premiership player and A Grade Captain. He replaces last year’s coach Mathew Aitchison who has moved to Melville this season.
Ocean Ridge have welcomed a new coach in Adam Salecic who joins the Eagles from Quinn’s Districts AFC. Adam has experience coaching at Wanneroo AFC, West Perth FC in reserves, colt’s assistant roles and under 16 development roles. Most recently Adam coached the Quinn’s Districts B Grade side in 2016 as well as their C1 premiership side in 2015.
Swan Valley enter the C2 competition after a successful 2016 season in C3. Swan Valley finished the season with 16 wins and 2 losses but went down by nine points to Nollamara in the Grand Final. It was a major improvement for the club after finishing 2015 in eighth position. Swan Valley have reappointed Brian Lloyd as coach for 2017.
Gosnells finished in third position last year making the Preliminary final but lost to Ballajura by 31 points. Gosnells spent three seasons in C1 before being relegated at the end of 2015. Corey Bertram remains as coach for a second season.
Bassendean join C2 this year after finishing in ninth position in C1. The last time Bassendean were in C2 grade was in 2014 when they won the premiership in the same year.
Warnbro Swans have finished in seventh position for the past three seasons and have appointed Paul Lenzarini as coach for 2017. Paul is a level three coach who has coached at three WAFL clubs and has held several other senior coaching positions.
High Wycombe missed the finals last season after making the Semi Finals in 2015. John Watters has been appointed as coach this season after taking over from Mark Doyle.
Canning Vale made the semi-finals last season after a convincing win over Canning South Perth in the Elimination Final. It was a successful comeback after failing to make the finals the year before. Stephen Jones has been appointed as coach for this season with last year’s coach Adam Waight stepping down into the role of assistant coach.
